Northwestern is planning on removing the interim tag from David Braun and hiring him as the school's full-time head coach, per a report from ESPN's Pete Thamel and Adam Rittenberg

Braun was hired by former Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald in January as the team's defensive coordinator, but became the interim head coach in July when Fitzgerald was fired after allegations surfaced of a team-wide hazing scandal. In his first season as a head coach, Braun has won more games with a 5-5 record than the Wildcats had totaled in the last two years.

Per ESPN, an official announcement is expected on Thursday from the school.

If Northwestern wins either of its last two regular season games against Purdue and Illinois, it will become bowl-eligible for the first time since the 2020 season.
