Ohio State appears set to have all but one of its key players back in action against Michigan on Saturday.

Starting strong safety Lathan Ransom will remain sidelined for this week’s trip to Ann Arbor, but Ryan Day said the Buckeyes were “looking forward to getting the other guys back” this week when asked Wednesday on his radio show about playing without starting defensive tackle Mike Hall and linebacker Tommy Eichenberg against Minnesota.

Hall told Eleven Warriors on Monday he was expecting to play against Michigan after missing the Minnesota game. Day said Saturday that Eichenberg could have played against Minnesota but that Day made the decision to hold Eichenberg out to ensure he would be healthy to play against Michigan after suffering an arm injury in Ohio State’s first game of November against Rutgers.

On the other side of the ball, Day said second-string quarterback Devin Brown is “practicing much more this week” and will be available against Michigan after he was listed as questionable and did not play against Minnesota due to the ankle injury he suffered in Ohio State’s win over Penn State. Brown hasn’t played since that game, but his return could open up the possibility of Ohio State using him in a red-zone package like it did against Purdue and Penn State in October.

Ohio State’s full status report of unavailable/questionable players for The Game is scheduled to be released at 10 a.m. Saturday.
